AxCrypt is an open source encryption solution that integrates seamlessly with Windows to compress, encrypt, decrypt, store, send and work with individual files. The program is great for protecting your documents such as private letters, correspondence, job information, medical information, financial details stored on a local hard disk or network server.

Just right-click any document file and encrypt it with AxCrypt. Viewing and opening for an update are just as convenient as before encryption due to AxCrypt’s automatic decryption/open/re-encryption function. If you use a Key-File on a diskette or USB thumb drive, your files will be encrypted to the highest level of protection as long the Key-File is kept secret.

In order to use AxCrypt, you will need to create an account. Please note that the installer version of AxCrypt comes with some additional features (e.g. context menu integration) compared to the lightweight, standalone version.

AxCrypt is available in three editions: Free, Premium and Business. The Pro edition offers a range of exclusive features over the free edition, such as AES-256 encryption support, automatic encryption of new files in designated folders, password management, key sharing, cloud storage support, anonymous file names, secure file deletion, a password generator, and more.

The Business edition includes all the features of Premium plus quick and personal support, admin management, Master key that enables administrators to recover lost files of the business members, eliminating the risk of losing access to critical files due to employees leaving or forgetting their passwords.A key length of 128 bits is sufficient in most cases, except where rules and regulations or personal preference stipulate a higher level.

AxCrypt Premium offers 256-bit encryption which is the strongest standardized encryption available and is used for secret and top secret information all over the world. Moreover, AxCrypt will automatically find what Cloud Storage services are installed on your computer and create an AxCrypt folder there. We make it easy for you to automatically view and keep the files secured in these folders.

AxCrypt has been awarded with PCMag’s Editors’ Choice for Best Encryption Software in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 – 6 years in a row. According to the company info, it has over 20 million downloads worldwide.
